Muchin College Prep claims space in former downtown department store building

From The Chicago Tribune: Muchin College Prep, a charter school, has opened in a high-rise building in Chicago's Loop. The school is situated primarily on the 7th floor of 1 N. State St. -- the former Mandel Brothers department store. Muchin, one of eight Noble Street Charter Schools in Chicago, has opened to 256 freshmen from all over the city. Additional grades will be added in the future. The architect is Wheeler Kearns. ALSO...from Chicagorealestatedaily.com: The 16-story office and retail building was built in 1912 and designed by architecture firm Holabird & Roche.
