WinWin Academy would serve 100 students at Pickaway Correctional Institution
FromThe Columbus Dispatch: Charter schools have been situated in old big-box stores, shopping malls and church basements. But Ohio has never had one in a prison. A school for young inmates in adult prisons called WinWin Academyis set to open next school year inside the Pickaway Correctional Institution in Orient. Organizers say it will be the first of its kind in the country because the charter school will operate both inside the prison and outside in the community to continue teaching once its students are released.
