North Carolina district may scale back planned high school

Scaling back a future high school in northeast Chatham County, N.C., could shave $6 million off the original cost estimate. County commissioners have offered that money to the school system, suggesting most of it go to Northwood High School in Pittsboro. Built in 1972, Northwood is the county's most crowded school, about 200 students over capacity.
