From The Centralia Chronicle: Voters in the Chehalis (Wash.) school district have failed to approve a $27 million, 20-year bond measure to replace Cascade Elementary School and transform R.E. Bennett Elementary School into shared learning and district office space. Only 51.9 percent of voters said yes to replacing the school; a 60 percent majority was needed.

School District is asking voters on April 26 to approve a $27 million capital facilities bond proposal
. If the bond passes, the district will be eligible for about $17 million in state assistance. The money would enable the district to build a K-3 elementary school to replace Cascade
and R.E. Bennett
elementary schools. The R.E. Bennett site will be renovated so it can be used as office space.
