New school opens in Chesterfield County, Va.

Mar 4, 2008 1:46 PM

The Chesterfield County (Va.) district opened the doors to its newest school this morning. Winterpock Elementary is the second school to open in the county this year, following Elizabeth Scott Elementary School's opening Jan. 29. Both schools were to have opened in the fall of last year, but issues with land deeds, easements and construction snags resulted in delays. Two more new schools, Elizabeth Davis and Tomahawk Creek middle schools, should be ready for students in the fall, and site work is under way for a replacement Clover Hill High School to open in 2010.
