Chicago school-closing criteria emphasizes academic performance

From The Chicago Tribune: Administrators deciding which public schools should be closed in Chicago will place more emphasis on academically failing schools, not on buildings that are underused, according to new guidelines. The weight given to academic performance is the biggest change in criteria for determining this year's list of closings, district leaders say. A new state law requires that the school system make public a list of actions — including boundary changes, consolidations and closings — by Dec. 1.
