State budget cuts could force layoff of 2,500 teachers and 700 support workers

From The Las Vegas Sun: Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval’s plan to reduce education funding would result in the Clark County School District laying off thousands of employees. District officials say that some class sizes would probably increase by eight students and the average starting salary of teachers, now $35,000, would fall $3,500. The school system would face a potential layoff of 2,500 teachers and 700 support personnel.
