Clark County (Nev.) district police chief quits

Hector Garcia says he wants to complete his doctorate.

Hector Garcia has resigned as chief of the Clark County (Nev.) School District Police Department in order to complete his doctoral degree. He has led the department in the nation's fifth-largest district since February 2005. Before coming to Nevada, Garcia had worked for the Sarasota County and Palm Beach County school districts in Florida.
