From The Las Vegas Sun: The Clark County (Nev.) School District's tax initiative to pay for school renovations has failed. The decisive defeat represents the first time in about 25 years that a capital improvement proposal put forward by the district has been rejected, officials say. The initiative lost 65.6 percent to 34.4 percent. The district had hoped to generate up to $720 million over six years to pay for high-priority renovations and technology upgrades at 40 schools.
