District in New York rejects $187 million ballot proposal

Voters in the Clarkstown (N.Y.) Central School District have overwhelmingly rejected an $187 million school bond that would have repaired the district's aging facilities.

FROM FEBRUARY 2009: The Clarkstown (N.Y.) Central School District is asking voters on March 10 to approve a $187 million bond proposal. The money would pay for upgrades and renovations to the district's 16 school buildings and facilities, which have an average age of 58 years.
