Students given iPads have become theft targets

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: Parents and educators in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights (Ohio) school district are trying to decide if middle school students should be allowed to take school-issued iPads home. At the start of the school year, the district gave 1,300 iPads to students at Monticello, Wiley and Roxboro middle schools. Students initially were permitted to take the iPads home, but the district ended the practice less than three weeks because the students became targets for thieves. Between Sept. 26 and Oct. 13, a dozen middle school students had the iPads stolen while on their way to and from school.
