A new Cobb County (Ga.) school district central office that would consolidate administrative offices strewn across the county is on Superintendent Fred Sanderson's wish list for a new capital improvement campaign. Within the next month, the board is scheduled to begin firming up plans for the construction, technology and maintenance needs of the 107,000-student system over the next five years. The current five-year special purpose local option sales tax expires at the end of the year, and school officials must return to voters — likely in September — to ask for another five years of penny sales tax to pay for school construction.
