College campus in Indianapolis want to provide more student housing

Demand for on-campus living grows at Indiana-University-Purdue University Indianapolis

From The Indianapolis Star: Charles Bantz, the chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, vows to use the fund-raising campaign to boost student housing on campus. IUPUI's 41-year-old urban campus generally has served nontraditional students who live off campus and drive to class. But in recent years, the campus has tried to accommodate younger students seeking a more traditional campus setting. In addition to its existing 300-bed freshman residence hall and 60 townhomes, the campus opened a $40 million apartment complex four years ago to house nearly 750 more students. But even that was not enough. This year, an overflow of students wanting to live on campus prompted IUPUI to lease seven floors for 260 students in a local apartment complex.
