College freshmen use technology to connect

Many have met their roommates and fellow students via the Internet.

Many of the nation's 2 million or more incoming college freshmen are taking a high-tech approach to college camaraderie by e-contacting their roommates before arriving on campus. But over-reliance on technology, experts say, also can hamper their adjustment by making it easy for students to hold too tight to the life and friends they've left behind.
