From The Ventura County Star: A 19-year-old college student from South Korea has died after a deep hole in the sand collapsed on him at a beach in Oxnard, Calif. Mingyu Sang was an incoming freshman at The Master's College in Santa Clarita and was participating in a recreational activity that was part of the college's orientation program. Sang after other students dug a pit reportedly 6 to 8 feet deep. The student reportedly was lying in the bottom of the pit trying to photograph it when it collapsed. Lifeguards often warn against digging holes, but the stretch of beach where the students were gathered had no lifeguard nearby.
