Community College district wins $475 million bond election

Los Rios (Calif.) system will expand four campuses

With the passage of a $475 million bond proposal, the Los Rios (Calif.) Community College District is positioned to meet explosive enrollment growth anticipated over the next decade. Los Rios, which spans Sacramento, Yolo and El Dorado counties, as well as parts of Placer County, is expected to grow from 88,000 students to 120,000 in the next eight years. The bonds will pay for classroom and facility improvements and construction at American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City colleges.
