Construction planned at Southern University at New Orleans

Dec. 17, 2007
One of the three new buildings will be the school's first residence hall

The tract that Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) calls its North Campus originally was envisioned as a temporary home while flood damage on the main campus was being repaired. However, three permanent buildings are planned for the 38-acre site abutting the Lake Pontchartrain levee. The structures, including SUNO's first-ever residence hall, will replace the portable buildings that have served as classrooms, offices and homes for SUNO's students and staff since January 2006. There will be no need for evictions because people are moving out of the residential trailers as they find other places to live
