Oct 28, 2010 2:32 PM

From The Cornell Sun: An alumnus of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., is giving the school $80 million to create the David R. Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future. The gift is the largest individual gift ever given to a university for sustainability research. The new center will be “a permanent, major research center focusing on challenges in the global energy, environmental and economic development arenas,” the university says. Atkinson, who runs a private investment firm, graduated from the university in 1960.
