Most positions cut in a reorganization of the Dallas school district's central office weren't held by top-dollar executives. Instead, the biggest losses were among lower-paid staff, including secretaries, custodians and other nonsupervisory employees. Nearly two-thirds of the positions cut had base salaries ranging from about $15,000 to $49,000 a year. Officials say the restructuring has saved $9.2 million and eliminated 163 central office positions.
