Drinking water has elevated lead levels at some Washington, D.C., schools

Washington, D.C., public school officials detected elevated levels of lead in the drinking water at five schools tested between August 2006 and last month, according to information released at a city council hearing. City officials say they do not know enough about how the tests were conducted to conclude that the water is unsafe to drink.
