Prudence Island School is the state's only one-room schoolhouse

From The Providence Journal: The doors will stay open in the fall at the Prudence Island School, Rhode Island’s only one-room schoolhouse, thanks to a unique deal between the island residents and the Town of Portsmouth. The plan calls for about $33,000 in school funding to be re-routed through the Town Council to the nonprofit Prudence Island School Foundation, which would maintain the century-old building and hire a teacher/tutor for two young children.
