Detroit area administrators blame economy for election losses

Most bond proposals in the area have failed recently, including this week's ballot questions.

Across metro Detroit this year, voters have resoundingly said no to school officials asking to borrow money for a slew of projects. Tuesday was no exception. Of the seven bond proposals on ballots in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, all but one failed. In February, three of four bond proposals in the tri-county area were shot down. And in 2006, only five of 14 bond proposals passed. Why the voter reluctance? Many administrators say It's the economy.
