Detroit district leader wants to convert to K-8 schools

From The Detroit Free Press: After nearly a century of middle and junior high schools, the Detroit district should eliminate middle schools and switch back to K-8 buildings, Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb says. Detroit's Chief Academic and Accountability Auditor Barbara Byrd-Bennett is expected to lead the change. When she was superintendent in Cleveland, she converted elementary and middle schools as part of her strategy to improve academic achievement and graduation rates.
