Detroit ready to start construction on 2 schools

Buildings are expected to serve as models for future projects
From The Detroit News: Construction is set to start this month in Detroit on two P-K-8 schools expected to serve as models for future buildings. Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb says the schools will help the district to consolidate space and save long-term operating and maintenance costs. The planned facilities, in the Brightmoor and Clark Park neighborhoods, are set to open by 2011. MAY 2010....from The Detroit News:More than $64 million in construction work will begin next month on three Detroit public schools. Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb says work on a new $45.3 million Martin Luther King High School, a $10.2 million renovation for John R. King and a $8.6 million upgrade to Marcus Garvey will begin as soon as school lets out. This round of work will create 1,375 jobs.
