Critic of Detroit district is named head of charter operations (w/ Video)

From The Detroit Free Press: Doug Ross, a charter school founder in Detroit who has been a critic of the city's school district, will become the district's director of the charter school office starting in September. Ross is founder of New Urban Learning, a nonprofit charter school management company that manages the University Preparatory Academy, University Preparatory Science & Math Academy and University Yes Academy charter schools in the city. The Detroit district has nine charter schools and is converting another five to charter schools this summer.
