From The Detroit News: The Detroit school district has whittled its deficit down by nearly $87 million and has resolved the majority of financial reporting issues
that have historically plagued the district, according to an audit
report. The district's deficit was previously
estimated at $305.9 million on June 30, but a recent financial audit to
determine the actual accumulated deficit found the district's deficit
is $219 million.
