Detroit should stop fighting charter school movement, columnist says

From The Detroit Free Press: The struggling Detroit school district continues, after nearly a decade, to fight the alternative education movement as if it were new, columnist Rochelle Riley says. But the reality is that more than half of Detroit's school-age children already attend public charter or parochial or private schools. Only about 44 percent, or 85,000, were scheduled to walk into a Detroit Public Schools building this week.
