Detroit district puts two financial officers on leave

Two financial officers for Detroit Public Schools have been placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation into whether vendors and contractors improperly received millions of dollars in wire fund transfers through the school system's Office of Risk Management. Dori Freelain, chief financial officer, and Delores Brown, cash manager, are on leave while a Grand Rapids legal services firm conducts a records review. There is no suspicion of wrongdoing by Freelain or Brown at this time, board Vice President Joyce Hayes-Giles says.
