Officials hope project leads to greater commercial activity

From The Raleigh News and Observer: The start of classes this week at North Carolina State University will serve as an important test for the stretch of Hillsborough Street emerging from a $9.9 million makeover that gives the Raleigh campus a snazzy new front porch. Hopes are high that the street, after more than a decade of revitalization plans and intense debate, scores a high-enough grade to become a vibrant hub of commercial activity - and a spruced-up gateway both to downtown and to the Glenwood South entertainment district.
