$2.5 million gift will result in a center for engineering and research

Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine, has received a $2.5 million donation from the American Bureau of Shipping for a new, energy-efficient engineering and research building on campus. The new building will be called the ABS Center for Applied Engineering and Research. It will meet a need at the college and also fits in with the corporation’s efforts to support each of the maritime colleges in the country. If all goes well, the college plans to break ground during summer 2010 and to complete the building sometime during the next summer.
