Students, staff can sign up to receive emergency messages on cell phones

Students, faculty and staff at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti now can sign up for an emergency text message alert system. University officials say it is a critical tool to communicate on campus in the event of an emergency. A short text will be sent to everyone who registers a cell phone or their email with the university
