The Elyria (Ohio) school district is planning to build a new
high school campus that would be completed in 2011. Most of the
existing campus will be demolished. The new school will have a
16,000-square-foot main gymnasium. a media center, with
20-feet high ceilings, performing arts center with a two-story,
glass-encased
atrium and 800-seat auditorium, a main administration building, a
large, landscaped courtyard, and an academic area. The
streets around the building will include bike paths and dozens of
parking spaces will be set aside for fuel-efficient
vehicles. The biggest “green” initiative will be the more than 400
geothermal wells that will regulate the school’s heating and cooling.
The architect is Architectural Vision Group.
