Emergency financial manager in Detroit district is given control over academic matters

Judge reverses earlier order that have given the school board authority over curricular issues

From The Detroit News: A judge has placed the Detroit school system under the total control of state-appointed Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb. Wayne County, Mich., Circuit Judge Wendy Baxter last month returned control of academic matters to the school board, but Friday she issued a ruling that gave control to Bobb. The ruling comes in response to the Michigan legislature passing a new emergency financial manager act, aimed at resolving the power struggle between Bobb and the school board.
