Two years after master keys were lost, Eastern Michigan University will change locks

Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti will change the locks of more than 500 interior doors in two buildings this summer in response to lost master keys. The set of master keys has been missing since August 2005, when a vendor left the keys unattended on a cart and came back to find them gone. Since then, laptops, video cameras and other valuables have been stolen from locked faculty offices, according to EMU's professors union, which has filed a grievance against the university for failing to re-key all the doors.
