Erie, Kan., high school earns LEED gold certification

Erie Charter High School in Erie, Kan., has received gold LEED certification for its environmentally friendly design and construction. The project is the first K-12 facility in Kansas to received a gold LEED rating. The single-level facility benefits from daylight through windows and skylights. The workspaces have individual lighting controls and controllable thermal systems to facilitate a healthful and comfortable learning environment. Each classroom has its own devices to monitor temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide.
