Replacement elementary under construction in Raleigh County, W.Va.

The Raleigh County (W.Va.) district has broken ground on a new Fairdale Elementary School. The $8.7 million facility will be constructed behind the existing school, which opened in 1950 and is described by officials as the most outdated in the district. The new facility will have a separate gym and cafeteria, and a state-of-the-art computer lab. The architect is Dan Snead.
