Fewer schools in Philadelphia are “persistently dangerous”

Sept. 6, 2012
The state gives 6 city schools that designation, compared with 12 last year

From The Philadelphia Inquirer: The number of Philadelphia schools deemed "persistently dangerous" by the state of Pennsylvania has been cut in half. Six schools have received that designation for 2012-13, compared with 12 in the previous school year. The schools: Frankford, Kensington Business, Lincoln, Strawberry Mansion and Douglas high schools and Beeber Middle School. To determine which schools go on the list, the state looks at the ratio of enrollment and reported "dangerous" violence. No schools outside Philadelphia received a persistently dangerous designation.
