On fifth try, Dell Rapids (S.D.) passes bonds for new elementary

From The Sioux Falls Argus-Leader: After rejecting four previous ballot proposals, voters in the Dell Rapids (S.D.) district finally have approved a bond issue for a new elementary school. It was the fifth attempt for the bond; a proposal in November failed by six votes. The latest ballot questoin was almost the same as it was in November -- a $10.99 million bond to build an 82,038-square-foot grade school. The district hopes to start construction in late summer for a fall 2011 opening.

APRIL 2009 from The Sioux Falls Argus Leader: Voters in the Dell Rapids (S.D.) School District have rejected a proposed $13.5 million bond issue that would have paid for a new elementary school. The question needed a 60 percent majority, but received only 52 percent. The election was the third time since May 2008 that voters have rejected expansion proposals.

APRIL 2009 from The Dell Rapids Tribune: The Dell Rapids (S.D.) school board is asking voters on April 28 to approve a $13.5 million bond for a new elementary school. The planned new facility would have larger classrooms, space for special education programming, two computer labs and a larger library.
