Film school facility opens at University of Southern California

Los Angeles complex made possible by moviemaker George Lucas

Students and faculty members have moved into the first phase of the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles. The giant complex of classrooms, soundstages and production buildings looks as if it might be an extension of the sprawling entertainment empire built by Star Wars creator George Lucas in Northern California. Lucas laid out the original designs for the project and donated an initial $175 million to build and support it.
