District faces $12 million deficit and declining enrollment

From The St. Louis Post-Dispatch: A $12 million budget deficit and declining enrollment is prompting the East St. Louis (Ill.) school district to close five elementary schools next school year. Alta-Sita, J.M.D. Brown, Miles Davis, A.M. Jackson (K-8), and Lilly-Freeman elementary schools will be closing as of June 30.
