James Ammons has been under fire since student in marching band died in a hazing attack

From The Orlando Sentinel: Florida A&M University President James Ammons has resigned amid continuing uproar over the hazing death of drum major Robert Champion and resulting criticism over management at the state's only public, historically black university. Ammons has been under intense criticism since Champion was beaten to death in a hazing ritual by fellow members of the Marching 100 band on a charter bus in Orlando after the Florida Classic football game in November. Eleven people have been charged with felonies in connection with Champion's death.

ALSO...from The Orlando Sentinel: The parents of Florida A&M University drum major Robert Champion, who was beaten to death last year during a hazing incident plan to file a lawsuit against the university. Champion, 26, was pummeled by his fellow band members aboard a parked charter bus after the annual football game with Bethune Cookman University on Nov. 19. In May, 11 people were charged with felony hazing in connection with his death.
