Former D.C. superintendent in line to lead Newark, N.J., district

Clifford Janey is reportedly the choice of New Jersey governor

New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine is expected to name former Washington D.C. school superintendent Clifford Janey as the next Newark schools superintendent. Janey was one of three finalists selected following a nationwide search conducted by a committee of local community members. He received mixed reviews during the three years he headed Washington Schools and was replaced after Mayor Adrian Fenty took control of the district.
