Lorenzo Garcia admitted guilt in academic cheating scheme

From The El Paso Times: Lorenzo Garcia, former superintendent of the El Paso (Texas) Independent School District, has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for his role in an academic cheating scandal. García, 56, intentionally put students in the wrong grade, pushed them out of school or prevented them from enrolling as part of the district's effort to inflate standardized test scores so low-performing schools appeared to meet federal and state accountability measures. He pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
