State superintendent of education looks for ways to cut $240 million from budget

South Carolina students could see a four-day school week and less standardized testing this spring if lawmakers follow the state education superintendent's recommendations on ways to absorb $240 million in budget cuts. Jim Rex collaborated with educators across the state to create proposals that would save money and do the least amount of harm to students' learning. Local school leaders would have the flexibility to decide what's best for their students.
