Full-day kindergarten approved in Tacoma

The Tacoma (Wash.) School Board has approved a plan to offer free all-day kindergarten at every public school in the city. Officials say it will cost around $3 million in added teachers’ salaries, learning materials, training and facilities changes during the next school year.

RELATED: Oak Park (Ill.) District 97 will begin all-day kindergarten will open in three schools this fall. Over two years, the full-day program will be established at nearly all of the district's elementary buildings.
