A second student was critically injured

From Newsday: A student on the campus of Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, N.Y., was killed when she was struck by a garbage truck. Police say Kaeli Sarah Kramer, 19, of Huntington, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday. A second student, Aresh Saqib, 21, also was injured. Saqib was in the intensive care unit in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center. Suffolk County police say that the garbage truck, driven by Guillermo Vargas, 39, of Levittown, was backing up near Lupton Hall. Vargas told police that he had finished unloading garbage when he looked out his side-view mirror and saw Saqib on his hands and knees, screaming.
