Community college facility will anchor downtown New Haven

Gateway Community College in New Haven, Conn., is planning a new campus in the city's downtown. The project will consist of two four-story buildings with a total of 360,000 square feet of space, and is scheduled to be completed in 2012. It will have 115 classrooms, compared with 85 on the existing campus. In addition to general classrooms, there will be specialized rooms for music, science, nursing, and engineering. The project is being designed to achieve a gold LEED rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. The architect is Perkins+Will.
