Two projects to boost housing at Georgia State University

Georgia State University in Atlanta is preparing to break ground on two student housing projects that will bring the university closer to its goal of having 20 percent of its students living on campus by 2015. The 102,000-square-foot Freshman Hall will house 325 to 350 students in two-bedroom units. Each floor will have lounge space. A dining hall -- Georgia State's first cafeteria style facility -- will be on the ground floor. The second project is Special Interest Student Housing, which will be home to the university's 24 Greek organizations. It will have nine three-story townhouses for a total of 145 beds. The architect for the freshman facility is Cooper Carry Architects, and the architect for the special interest housing is Carleston Sanford.
