Fifth-grade girl in Long Beach, Calif., dies after fight with classmate

From The Los Angeles Times: Police in Long Beach, Calif., are investigating the death of a 10-year-old girl who was involved in a fight with a classmate a few hours before. Joanna Ramos died of blunt-force trauma to the head — and her death has been ruled a homicide. The girl and a classmate, both of whom attended Willard Elementary School, had arranged to meet Friday after school to settle a quarrel over a boy. After a few punches, the fight ended, and Joanna headed to an after-school program. She subsequently reported feeling sick and then lost consciousness.
