California district seeks first-ever bond vote

The Gold Oak (Calif.) Union School District has never held a bond election. But with 50-year-old buildings, 18-year-old portables, and leaky roofs, district leaders and community members believe it's time to ask voters to support facility and equipment needs. So the district has placed Measure E, an $8.9 million general obligation bond, on the Nov. 4 ballot. the money will enable the district to construct and modernize school facilities and provide access to computers.
